About the property

We strive to provide the very best level of care, from tailored care requirements and specialist equipment to the provision of a wide range of activities, entertainment and outside visits.

We pride ourselves in ensuring every resident feels at home, surrounded by their personal effects within pleasant surroundings.

This house, purpose built as a residential care home, was established in 1992 as an independent Member Society within the Abbeyfield Movement. The home accommodates 27 residents in 25 single and one shared rooms, all en suite.

Friars Mead provides high quality care for older people in a welcoming and homely atmosphere. Every effort is made to involve our residents in the day to day running of the house.

Meet our staff

We have a dedicated and compassionate team of staff who provide all personal care to elderly residents, while encouraging them to be as independent as possible.
The day at Friars Mead starts at 7.00 am with morning tea served in the residents’ bedrooms for a gentle start to the day.

Tasty home-cooked main meals are served in our dining room, although should a resident be unwell, meals will be served in their own room.

A doctor visits Friars Mead regularly so that residents don't have to attend a doctor's surgery.

Arts and CraftsWe organise a variety of activities every day, which are especially suitable for elderly people.

• Arts and crafts
