About the property

Renowned for our homely, warm and friendly environment at Friars Mead, we provide person-centred and compassionate care for older people with a variety of needs. Whether you are looking for permanent residential care or short-term respite care, we specialise in looking after frail older people and offer facilities for up to 27 residents.

Respite Care/Short Term Stays

When residents come and stay with us, their carers can relax and have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is safe. Our respite stays include 24 hour care, home cooked meals and the use of all our facilities. We understand that everyone is different so personal preferences are always built into our packages.

Respite and short term stays also help build a connection between our residents, their families and our home; this can be beneficial should a more permanent stay become necessary in the future.

Most of our residents have local connections and we’re committed to building great links in the community with providers of other services for older people.  Kings Langley is a wonderful village and we want everyone to be proud of the facilities we can offer to our neighbourhood.

Meet our staff

People are at the heart of our services and ethos. We are proud of our great team of carers, most of whom have been with us for over 10 years. Each and every one of the team are well qualified, caring and friendly people who love what they do. With day carers, night carers, and an overall manager, we’ve probably got over 150 years of caring experience between us all - and a lot of girl power!

But of course, it’s not just the care team who count. We have an amazing behind-the-scenes team who who are committed to putting our residents first and making life peaceful and enjoyable for them.

We welcome all enquiries, whether you have an urgent need for someone to be cared for, or whether you’re simply just starting to tentatively explore the world of care - any of our team would be delighted to talk to you. And you’ll find a warm welcome at Friars Mead if you want to meet us in person.

If you’d like to know more about our people and our working practices, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

• Board and card games
• Fortnightly computer instruction
• Lunch out at a local restaurant

Friars Mead has built some excellent relationships with the community since it opened its doors, and from time to time residents receive visits from local groups who join them for activities.

Activities aren’t for everyone though and if you prefer a quieter life, we support you in that. Our activities are communicated regularly so for those who are keen to join in, they can find out more through the team or on the noticeboards.
