Overview

In 1982 our home was sold to Abbeyfield by Dr Darell Jeffreys. He and his wife had a real connection with the older people in their community and were thrilled to sell their house to a charity who helped older people live later life to the fullest.

Since then our home has undergone several transformations. We’ve had four extensions allowing us to increase the number of residents who can live with us and overall room size. In total we have four double flats, one single flat and 10 en suite rooms.

We have a large garden, which many of our rooms look over, that we will be upgrading soon with a new patio and bird feeders. You can often find residents in the garden enjoying the sunshine and watching the wildlife. It’s also a wonderful space for visiting families, especially those with young children.

About your room

Residents will need to bring their own furniture when moving in and are welcome to decorate their room/flat to their taste, whether it be new curtains, carpets or painting the walls.

Pendant alarms are given to every resident living at Darell Jeffreys House to alert staff if you fall or need urgent help. The house also has night staff from 10pm – 7am to ensure residents feel safe and secure throughout the night.

Washing powder, toilet roll, bread, tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided to residents as well as lunch and a main meal everyday. Our cook makes freshly prepared meals from scratch everyday plus delicious cakes and puddings. We cater for food allergies and try to tailor our menu to ensure every resident has something they like to eat in the week.

Every room comes with its own fridge and the flats have washing machines included.
