Overview

This Abbeyfield House was purpose built in 1983 and renovated in 1991. The sheltered house comprises ten two-room suites with separate living and sleeping areas, all of which are en suite, plus a two bedroom flat on the first floor.

The flats are unfurnished apart from a fitted vanity unit with cupboards. The bathrooms contain a walk-in shower, toilet and hand basin. A separate communal bathroom with a bath is available to residents.

There is a large communal lounge/dining room which opens onto a spacious and comfortable conservatory which can be enjoyed throughout the year. This in turn opens onto lovely grounds - beautifully maintained with the help of some of the residents - and a small courtyard. There is a small car park at the front of the building for use by residents or visitors.

Social activities include weekly coffee mornings. Two meals are provided each day. Pets may be welcomed and are assessed individually.

Annett House is managed by Abbeyfield Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead

Life at the house

Our residents are quite independent, with just a little bit of support when you need it, and you can come and go as you please. We organise an active social life, and we encourage residents to suggest activities or interests, which the staff will then try and organise.

Regular activities include:

• Enjoyment and entertainment
• Coffee mornings
• Bring and buy sales
• Local amateur dramatic society performances
• Annual Garden Party held in the beautiful garden at our house at Sibley's Orchard

Dining areaTwo delicious freshly prepared home cooked meals are provided each day by the deputy house manager in the dining room.

The main meal is at lunch time: meat or fish with a selection of vegetables, for example cottage pie or a roast dinner.

Residents have the facilities to prepare their own choice of breakfast in their room, so have the freedom to have it as early or as late as they wish.
