Overview

We provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible. We offer a range of activities from coffee mornings to the more energetic exercise classes. It's a home from home with support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.

Abbeyfield House was built in 1978 and consists of 11 single and one double flat with ensuite facilities, plus two separate shower rooms.

Rooms are nicely decorated, and all our residents are given their own key. Residents' rooms are cleaned every week, and there is a laundry room for you to use.

Two tasty and nutritious home-cooked meals a day are provided, seven days a week, and breakfast is also supplied.

There is a welcoming communal lounge and dining room and a well-kept garden.

Life at the house

MusicOur residents are treated like guests, always with care, dignity and respect. You will have a key to your own room so can come and go as you please and are free to take yourself - and your visitors - for a breath of fresh air down by the seafront whenever you like.

We arrange a number of social activities and events, so there's always something to keep you occupied or to look forward to.

Activities include:

• Bingo
• Shopping outings
• Daily coffee mornings and afternoon teas
• Movement to music once a week
• DVD afternoons
• A visiting singer

We provide two healthy and delicious meals a day, which are cooked and prepared at the house. Our qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.

Each house has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!

Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
