At Abbeyfield House in Broadstairs, residents have their own private accommodation with the security and support of our happy and dedicated staff.

Built in 1900, many of the house’s original features are still visible today, including stunning Victorian mosaic flooring. Our home combines the grace of an era past, with all the conveniences of the present. Made up of 11 rooms, some en-suite, and one one-bedroom flat our rooms are your own space to personalise anyway you wish. We also have a guest bedroom for visiting friends and family.

Completing our home is a kitchen, walk-in shower, communal lounge and dining room overlooking our large, picturesque garden and summer house. We encourage residents to use all areas of Abbeyfield House, after all, it’s their home.

Two meals a day are provided by our staff, with all dietary needs catered for. Additional support includes a one hour cleaning call each week to help residents with tasks such as changing bed linen and doing laundry.

Security and safety of our residents is of paramount importance to us. All residents are provided with a 24 hour emergency life line system as well as a team of dedicated and knowledgeable staff.

To make life easy, our hairdresser, and chiropodist visit regularly.

Our dedication and commitment to maintaining the ideals and standards that were laid down by our founder remains as strong as when the doors were first opened well over a century ago.

"As soon as I came to Abbeyfield House I thought 'this is home'. It's cosy and warm and I just knew it was the place for me." - Mary, Resident at Abbeyfield House.

Life at the house

Abbeyfield House is located close to the town centre of Broadstairs. We’re a short walk, an even shorter drive, from local restaurants, shops, local transport and the beach, of course! We often enjoy group activities both inside and outside the house and occasionally take trips to the nearby seaside

If you have visiting friends and family our staff can suggest lots of fun activities to do in Broadstairs, but some of our favourites are:

- Visit the beach for fish ‘n’ chips and an ice cream.
- Visit Dickens House museum – said to be the inspiration for the home of Betsey Trotwood in David Copperfield.
- Walk around the marina and art galleries.
- Enjoy the Victoria Gardens.
