Dementia Care in Bingley

Due for completion in Spring 2017, Abbeyfield’s project at Fernbank Drive, Bingley will consist of forty nine Abbeyfield apartments, thirty care rooms for Dementia care, a Community Hub and all associated communal and ancillary accommodation.

The scheme has been designed to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and will utilise renewable technology & sustainable methods such as solar panels, green roofs and a sustainable drainage system.

The development consists of three main elements:

Independent Living With Extra Care Apartments

A scheme of forty nine residential apartments with associated common facilities. The self-contained apartments are a mix of thirty eight 2 bedroom apartments and eleven 1 bedroom apartments. The shared facilities include reception area, kiosk shop, restaurant, laundry, residents’ lounge, sun lounge, hair and beauty salon, 3 assisted bathrooms, 2 spa bathrooms, guest bedroom, hobbies room, buggy store, staff room, offices, refuse/recycling and service areas. The on-site 24 hour care staff provide residents with different levels of care; tailored to suit their needs. The complex also benefits from its own secure sensory garden area.

A Care Wing

Which consists of thirty individual rooms for the care of residents living with Dementia. The wing is subdivided into three clusters, each consisting of 10 residents. Each room has an en-suite shower room. Residents on each floor will have access to a dining room with its own kitchen and an adjacent lounge, a dedicated assisted bathroom and a secure garden area.

Community Hub 

This will be open to community groups within Bingley and the surrounding area. This will give access to a dining restaurant, a range of activities and the opportunity to socialise. 

The internal layout of the scheme has been carefully designed to be easily navigated through light and airy spaces whilst retaining a secure environment for the residents and Abbeyfield staff.

The scheme also benefits from amazing views down into Bingley and the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, whilst providing accessible links to the local towns and amenities.
