Day Senior Care Assistant in North Weald, Essex

Location: Abbeyfield, Cunningham House, Pike Way, North Weald, Epping, Essex, CM16 6BL.

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week (Days, earlies and lates. Including every other weekend)

Salary: £10.50 per hour

Working as a Senior Dementia Support Care Worker at our Cunningham House care home in North Weald, you will ensure that all services are provided with dignity, you will respect individual rights and choices while offering support, empathy, compassion and privacy. 

With a flexible approach to hours and responsibilities, you will possess an appropriate NVQ and a good track record as a carer. Your previous roles will have given you everything you need to operate with minimal supervision, backed by an organised but empathetic manner, real understanding of the issues and challenges facing older people and enthusiasm for gaining additional skills and qualifications. 

The role of a Senior Care Worker (Days) includes the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting and caring for all residents ensuring that their physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs are met while maintaining dignity, choice, independence and respect
  • Working with the Operations Manager to ensure the preparation, implementation, review and update of all residents support plans
  • Dealing with medical emergencies
  • Planning and implementing activities for the residents
  • Assisting in the interview and selection of potential staff and ensure appropriate and agreed staffing levels are maintained
  • Attend appropriate training and development sessions and staff meetings

The following are essential for the role:

  • Extensive experience within a supervisory role within a health or social care setting working with older people
  • A relevant NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent is preferred
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ablility to read, write and work with numbers to a good standard
  • A good basic understanding of care and care planning skills.
  • Ability to work using your own initiative and under pressure in a diverse and changing environment
  • Ability to effectively support individual colleagues and work as part of a team
  • To demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people
  • Ability to work to a high standard at all times
