Senior Digital Officer, St Albans

We're looking for a senior digital officer to join our team and manage our social media channels, blog and oversee our PPC account.

Location: The Abbeyfield Society, St Peter's House, 2 Bricket Road, St Albans, Herts, AL1 3JW

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: Starting at £27,000 DOE

Within this role, you can look forward to working with an experienced digital team, who are growing not only in numbers but scope. As Senior Digital Officer you will play a key part in maintaining and building our reputation across digital channels.

Your role will mainly be focused on managing and developing our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) including writing and editing content sourced from across the Abbeyfield family and paid social ads. 

You will also be producing and editing innovative and creative content for the website, ensuring all content is engaging and fully optimised for SEO and UX purposes.

Key Objectives

  • Manage and develop all social media channels for The Abbeyfield Society.
  • Develop and execute social media strategy.
  • Support ongoing enhancement and improvements to the Abbeyfield website to attract prospective residents.
  • Identify and write content for Abbeyfield website and social channels.

Essential requirements

  • Understanding of social channels, and experience of overseeing technical development in these areas.
  • Knowledge of content management systems.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
  • Experience creating content and production for high traffic websites.
  • In-depth and thorough understanding of social media platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Practical experience in copywriting for the web.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • IT Literacy – proficient in MS office.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Be highly disciplined and self-motivated and able to deliver to set targets and tasks.

Desirable requirements

  • Charity or Housing sector background.
  • Experience of using Umbraco.
  • Experience of using social media scheduling tools.
