Abbeyfield Sherborne are looking for a Casual Relief Cook to cover holidays and sickness as and when required.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the needs of older people, experience of working with the public and an ability to work under their own initiative. A Food Hygiene Certificate qualification would be desirable but above all you must care about making a difference to the lives of older people as much as we do.

You will assist in providing healthy and nutritious food for our residents. By keeping all kitchen and store areas clean and hygienic and following all hygienic practices you help protect our residents and keep them safe.

Abbeyfield House in Sherborne is located on the main road (A30) and only 5 minute walk from town centre.

We have capacity for up to 10 residents and the house has a quiet and homely atmosphere

Our normal shift pattern is 9am-6pm, however, for a relief cook purposes we can be flexible and accept 9:30-2:30 hours

You will be reporting to Agata Worth who is a Senior House Manager across Dorset and Wiltshire Homes. The team at Abbeyfield Sherborne consists of 2 Housekeepers/ Cooks and a General Assistant who ensures the cleanliness of the communal areas. The Housekeepers/ Cooks lone work with weekly visits from the Manager. 

You will responsible for day to day running of the house, carrying out welfare checks, chatting to residents and visitors, answering phone and completing some paperwork.. The main task is cooking for up 10 residents and ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen at all times.

Our residents enjoy having nutritious, traditional and home cooked meals followed by a homemade pudding. Supper times are normally lighter and quicker to prepare.
