Abbeyfield Week is The Abbeyfield Society’s annual birthday celebrations

Taking place in mid-June, to make the most of the good weather, the charity’s houses and homes up and down the UK are encouraged to take part in Abbeyfield Week by throwing events.

Whether big or small, the parties are a great way to both celebrate our charitable objective of enhancing the lives of older people, and to welcome in the community to see just how interesting and exciting homes can be.

Some of the events this year include:

Abbeyfield Court in Locks heath hold 60th birthday celebrations 

On Saturday 11th Abbeyfield Court held a celebration lunch where they invited the local community in Locks Heath for a lunch and celebrations of Abbeyfield's 60th year.

There was a hog style roast and huge cake stand and a fundraiser that at the end of the raised £1479 for Abbeyfield Court. I think this was amazing.

Cunningham House celebrate with superstar David Van Day

On Tuesday 14 June, our Cunningham house care home in Epping will be opening its doors to the public to celebrate Abbeyfield week and to show local people what excellent care homes are really about; how they can be at the centre of local communities and how they can help to develop relationships across the generations.

This year is the Abbeyfield charity’s 60th birthday and Cunnigham House in North Weald, Epping will be partying in style and will be hosting a fabulous barbecue with I’m A Celebrity star David Van Day!

Local Celebrity invites the community to celebrate charity’s 60th Anniversary at Solihull

On 17 June, from 2.30pm onwards, Abbeyfield’s Hampton House will be partying in style holding an entire afternoon’s worth of 50’s themed fun. There will be tea and cake and live 50’s music all topped off by a welcome from a very special VIP guest; broadcaster and comedian, Don Maclean MBE (of Crackerjack and BBC Radio 2 fame).

Also joining them for the afternoon will be Julian Knight MP, the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Mike Robinson and his wife, Mayoress Jenny Robinson.

Charity celebrates its 60th birthday in style

On Wednesday 15 June, from 2pm until 4.30pm, 150 residents, staff members and volunteers from Abbeyfield houses and homes within the North will be joining together at the Formby Hall Golf Resort for a 1950’s themed afternoon of fun.

The celebrations, which include ballroom dancing, singing, afternoon tea and quizzes, come as part of Abbeyfield Week, The Abbeyfield Society’s annual birthday party.

Joining Abbeyfield for the afternoon of merriment will be the The Mayor Elect Councillor of Sefton, Iain Brodie Browne, and local broadcaster and ex-councillor Debi Jones.
