The Firs nursing home receives $25,000 UPS donation

UPS (United Parcel Service) will be presenting The Firs nursing home in Nottingham with a cheque for almost $25,000 on Thursday 5 March 2015.

Staff at the home are absolutely delighted with this act of kindness which has enhanced the quality of life for their residents.

"We couldn’t be more pleased that UPS have decided to support Abbeyfield in Nottingham. We have used their generous grant of $25,000 (approximately £15,000) to buy specialist beds and chairs, which our residents are absolutely delighted with. All the equipment enables us to promote comfort, safety, independence, self esteem and self worth to our residents. " said Glenys Winson, deputy manager at The Firs.

As well as donating the large sum of money, volunteers from UPS came into the home to prepare their garden for summer and freshen up one resident’s room up with a lick of paint.

The specialist equipment has given independence to residents who would otherwise have been confined to their normal beds and chairs. Shower safety equipment and a syringe driver have also been donated.
