Audit Commission inspection
The services provided by Abbeyfield UK are 'fair' with promising prospects for improvement, according to the Audit Commission's independent report released in October 2007. Inspectors visited Abbeyfield during July 2007 to look at the service provided to residents.
Abbeyfield is saddened to announce the death of Susan Carr-Gomm
The Abbeyfield Society is, wife of Abbeyfield’s founder, Richard Carr-Gomm. Susan died after a very short illness at the end of last month. Read More
Five dedicated Abbeyfield volunteers receive Prince of Wales’s Award
Five Abbeyfield volunteers received the Abbeyfield Society’s Royal Patron’s Award in London on 28th March 2007.
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, as the Society’s Royal Patron, gives the Awards each year to a small number of Abbeyfield volunteers from across the country who have shown particularly dedicated and inspired service to the Abbeyfield Society, usually over a considerable number of years. Golden day for Abbeyfield
Abbeyfield residents, volunteers, supporters and staff gathered for a service of celebration and thanksgiving for The Abbeyfield Society’s 50th Anniversary at St Albans Abbey, Hertfordshire on Friday 23 June. The service was led by The Bishop of St Albans, The Rt. Revd. Christopher Herbert, in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales.
Children from nearby Aboyne Lodge Primary School gathered outside the Abbey to see dignitaries and clergy prepare to greet the Prince.
