Supporting Abbeyfield with a gift in your Will
Here at Abbeyfield we understand that writing your Will is private and personal but it is something many people put off doing – until it is too late. A valid Will is the only way to ensure that your wishes will be carried out, and that your family, friends and the good causes you’ve supported, and those that have supported you, during your lifetime can receive what you’d like them to.
A gift in your Will to Abbeyfield is one of the most thoughtful, and tax-efficient ways to help future generations grow old with dignity, security and independence in Abbeyfield houses and homes.
Our “Step by Step Guide to Making a Will” outlines everything you need to know about planning your Will before seeing a solicitor. You can request a copy of our guide by emailing legacies@abbeyfield.com or by calling 01727 734125.

What legacies mean to Abbeyfield
Legacies, both large and small, have helped Abbeyfield develop in so many ways. On the Isle of Wight a generous benefactor had donated money to establish an Abbeyfield home to provide accommodation for older people on the island and the house was opened in 1997. Later a legacy of more than £200,000 enabled the building of an extension for the house. The Delphie Wing, as it was named, consists of three large en suite bedrooms, a staff flat and a large conservatory.
At Abbeyfield's Shipley House in Bradford, managing the stairs was made easier for residents with the help of a legacy. The house was bequeathed £2,000, which meant that a chairlift could be installed to help residents move more freely.
If you have already remembered Abbeyfield with a gift in your Will we would like to say thank you. You can let us know your intentions by emailing legacies@abbeyfield.com All our legacy ‘pledgers’ receive our newsletter twice a year and are invited to Abbeyfield events in their area.
