Neil McNulty who volunteers at Abbeyfield's Head Office in St Albans was invited by Anne Main, MP for St Albans to visit the Houses of Parliament for a ‘Volunteer thank you lunch’.
Anne decided to hold a lunch for those who do voluntary work in St Albans as a thank you for their dedication and contribution. The lunch was attended by about 30 people of varying ages who give up their time to help others. People from many organisations in St Albans were invited, including representatives from Centre 33 and the Rotary Club.
The day started early with a tour of the Houses of Parliament. In small groups the volunteers also visited the House of Commons and the House of Lords. As the houses weren’t sitting at the time, attendees were able to have a good look around!
After the tour, tea, coffee and mince pies was laid on with an opportunity to meet Anne Main, followed by a
light lunch where Anne thanked everyone for the voluntary work they undertook in St Albans and their contribution.
Neil said 'I really enjoyed the event, especially the tour, and it was nice to be invited through my voluntary work with Abbeyfield'.
