Morriss Care Home in Merger with Abbeyfield

North London care home, Morriss House, becomes Abbeyfield’s 21st centrally managed care home

Abbeyfield is delighted to announce that operational control of Morriss House, a 25 bedded care home situated in Crouch End, North London, passed today, 26th June from the Abbeyfield Society of North London to The Abbeyfield Society.

Manager of Morriss House, Pauline Gower says “I am delighted that the management of Morriss House has been taken over centrally by Abbeyfield.  Our aim will continue to be to foster a relaxed and family atmosphere where we can provide our 25 residents with the physical and emotional support they need.  Enriching the daily lives of our residents is high on the list of our priorities”.

Paul Allen, Chief Executive of the Abbeyfield Society says “We are delighted to be able to take on the direct running of this home today and continue its long tradition of providing care and accommodation to Crouch End’s older residents.  As an organisation we are committed to helping residents live independently, reducing isolation and working with volunteers.  Retaining Morriss House within the Abbeyfield family will ensure that we carry on this ethos”.

Set in a leafy residential area on the Highgate side of Crouch End, Morriss House dates from the late Victorian period.  Established by the trustees of the Rachel Morriss Trust Fund, the home has undergone major renovations, alterations and refurbishments in recent years and provides a homely and relaxed atmosphere.

The Abbeyfield movement encompasses more than 80 care homes, 21 of which are centrally managed from their offices in St.Albans with locally based staff running the homes.  The other Abbeyfield care homes are run by independent Abbeyfield societies, all of which comply with Abbeyfield standards of provision and care.   More than 95% of Abbeyfield’s care homes have received a rating of good or above by the government body responsible for standards of  care in care homes.  A full list of Abbeyfield Care homes is available by clicking on the “Accommodation Search” button on this website and then “Find an Abbeyfield care home in your area.”
