It was a golden day on June 25th when Abbeyfield residents June and Ted Millett celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary at Abbeyfield Coventry.
June, 82, and Ted, 89, have been residents for nearly five years, having been associated with the house for many years before that as “friends of Abbeyfield” when a cousin was a resident. They organised their special day themselves with a party enjoyed by forty guests including fellow Abbeyfield residents, family and friends, along with staff and former staff who were a great help in preparing the buffet.
Lifelong Coventry residents, Ted, a retired stereotyper for the Coventry Evening Telegraph, and June who worked at the Ministry of Food and later helped to run her parents’ greengrocery store, both thoroughly enjoyed their day. June says “It was fantastic, more than we could have ever dreamed of”. The recipe for a long and happy marriage? “Give and take and always be there for each other” says June.
