Abbeyfield manages a large integrated care development in the Sherwood area of Nottingham. Abbeyfield currently offers integrated care - a mix of registered residential care, supported sheltered housing and independent living bungalows together with a day centre on the site in Mansfield Road.
In the summer of 2009, an existing building on the site, St Martin's House, was closed and will be refurbished to meet the growing local need for the provision of dementia care for 12 residents. Each room in the centre will have ensuite facilities designed to be disabled and wheelchair friendly - there will also be an assisted bathroom for those residents who need extra help with bathing.
To reduce isolation there will be a choice of communal recreational facilities including access to the day centre, a conservatory and with a secure garden for residents to enjoy. A professional team will be based on site to provide 24 hour care - giving peace of mind to residents and their families.
