Abbeyfield and Abbeyfield International merged on 31st March 2011 to form one global organisation under the name Abbeyfield.
Abbeyfield operates internationally through its network of national Abbeyfield societies - from Europe to Japan, Canada and the USA, to South Africa, New Zealand and Australia-in 15 territories across 5 continents.
Abbeyfield's international operations are coordinated through its International Department which:
- helps establish and nurture new national societies in response to need.
- provides a framework of standards and guidelines for each national society.
- encourages best working practices amongst all national societies.
- acts as a forum and catalyst for communication between national societies.
- represents the interests of its members to external international organisations.
The Abbeyfield movement worldwide relies at all levels (local, national and international) on voluntary effort by people of goodwill, who are intent on assisting older people to achieve a fulfilling quality of life.
We are currently updating and merging our Websites to reflect the new organisation.
