The care team at Abbeyfield’s Brown’s Field House in Cambridge have been awarded a “very highly commended” certificate on achieving second place and beating more than fifty other entrants in the Care Team of the Year section of the prestigious National Care Awards 2009. The organizers were looking for “a staff team who have developed and maintained a superb standard of care within a care home or day care facility”.
Manager Marsha Tuffin and Deputy Manager Sally Smith attended the awards ceremony in London on behalf of their team. It was the second year running they had been in contention. Last year they reached the finals and this year they were just one off the top spot. Marsha says “I am so proud of our team at Brown’s Field House who are always motivated and loyal to the home and the residents. They thoroughly deserve to be runners up for this Award – next year, however, I am determined we will go one stage further and reach the top position!”
Staff and residents welcomed Marsha and Sally back with a surprise reception. Care Assistant Nicola Munns organised and presented a special cake to Marsha and Sally which had a photo of the team imprinted on it. Nicola says “The cake is our way of saying a huge thank you for all that Marsha and Sally do for the residents and staff at Brown’s Field House and for getting us through to second place in the National Care Awards”.
Resident Pat Singer agreed with Nicola and said “Marsha and Sally, in fact all the staff at Abbeyfield, are absolutely great. They look after us really well. Brown’s Field House takes a lot of beating! I am really pleased this has been recognized at the National Care Awards".
